Every site comes with a free yourname.folio.page address. On the Pro and Max plans you can also connect a domain you already own, such as janedoe.com, and FolioPage serves your site there with an SSL certificate it manages for you.
Before you start
- You need a domain registered with any provider (Namecheap, GoDaddy, Cloudflare, Google Domains and so on). FolioPage does not sell domains.
- You connect a subdomain of your domain, normally
www.janedoe.com(another subdomain such asportfolio.janedoe.comworks too). The barejanedoe.comcannot be connected directly; set up a redirect from it towwwat your provider instead, so both addresses reach your site. - You can connect one custom domain per site.
Step 1: add a CNAME record at your domain provider
Sign in to the place where you manage your domain's DNS and add a record:

Leave TTL at its default. If there is already a record for the same name, replace it rather than adding a second one.

Step 2: add the domain in your dashboard
- Open your site in the dashboard and choose Domain in the sidebar.
- Click Add custom domain. Under Your domain, enter the hostname exactly as you set it up in DNS (for example
www.janedoe.com). The form repeats the CNAME record you need, with a Copy button for the target. - Click Add the domain. The domain shows as pending while we verify the DNS record and issue the certificate.
Step 3: wait for verification
FolioPage checks your domain automatically every few minutes for up to 24 hours. DNS changes usually propagate within an hour, but some providers take longer. You can click Recheck now at any time.
When the record is found and the certificate is issued, the domain becomes active and is made your site's primary address: visitors who open the subdomain are redirected to your domain, and the links FolioPage generates for your site use it.
If no record is found within 24 hours the domain is marked failed. Fix the DNS record, click Remove and try again, and add the domain once more to start a new window.
Switching back to the subdomain
You can keep both addresses and choose which one is primary. On the Domain page, pick Switch back to your subdomain to make yourname.folio.page the main address again, or disconnect the custom domain entirely. Disconnecting does not delete anything on your site.
Moving to the Free plan
Custom domains are a Pro and Max feature. If you cancel and move a site to the Free plan, you are asked to disconnect the custom domain first; your site then lives on its subdomain again. The DNS record at your provider can stay in place, so reconnecting after a later upgrade is a single click.
