On this page
Every site has its own media library: one place for the photos, logos and files you use across pages, your portfolio, blog posts and resume. Upload a file once and pick it from the library wherever an image is needed.
Open the media library
- Open your site in the dashboard and choose Media in the sidebar.
- The library opens on All Files. Use the search box to find a file by name, or change the sort order (newest, oldest, name or size).

Upload files
There are two ways to add files:
- Drag and drop. Drag one or more files from your computer anywhere onto the library page. A Drop files to upload overlay appears; release to start uploading.
- Browse. Click Upload in the top bar (or Browse Files when the library is empty) and choose files from your computer.
If you are viewing a folder when you upload, the new files land in that folder. Otherwise they go to Uncategorized.
A small panel in the bottom-right corner shows the progress of each upload. You can keep working in the dashboard, and even move to another page, while uploads finish. When a file fails, the panel shows why, with a Retry button next to it.
Tip: You can also upload from inside the image picker. Whenever you choose an image for a section, a portfolio item or your logo, the Select an image window has the same Upload button, and the new file appears in the grid straight away.
What you can upload
| Free | Pro | Max | |
|---|---|---|---|
| File types | JPEG, PNG, WebP, GIF, SVG | JPEG, PNG, WebP, GIF, SVG | JPEG, PNG, WebP, GIF, SVG, PDF, MP4, WebM |
| Maximum size per file | 5 MB | 20 MB | 50 MB |
| Files in the library | 50 | 1,000 | Unlimited |
| Total storage | 100 MB | 2 GB | 10 GB |
Each site has its own library and its own limits. You can see how much of your allowance is used on the Plan & Usage page, and the bottom of the library shows the file count next to the per-file size limit. See Image sizes, formats and quality for the pixel limits and how images are optimised.
File details
Click any file in the library to open the File details panel. From there you can:
- Change the Filename (the extension stays as it is).
- Add Alt text, a short description of the image for screen readers and search engines.
- Move the file to another Folder.
- Copy URL to use the image elsewhere, or Open Full View to see the original file in a new tab.
- Delete the file.
Selecting and deleting several files
Hover over a file and tick its checkbox to select it. The bar at the bottom of the library then lets you move the selection with Move to…, remove it with Delete, or Clear the selection.
Warning: Deleting a file removes it from storage straight away. A page section that still used that image shows a placeholder until you pick a new one.
