Sections arrive with sample text and placeholder pictures. You replace them right on the page: click a headline to retype it, click a photo to swap it. There is no separate form to fill in for the everyday edits, and everything you change is saved immediately.

Edit text in place

  1. Make sure the editor is in Edit mode (the pill at the top).
  2. Hover any text. Editable text shows a dashed outline. Click it and start typing.
  3. Click anywhere outside the text to save. Press Esc to throw the change away.

A few things worth knowing:

  • Pressing Enter starts a new line inside the same text; it does not save.
  • Pasted text is inserted as plain text, so formatting from another website or document does not come along.
  • Clearing a text completely leaves that spot empty on the page.

Format longer text

Paragraph-style text, such as the body of an about section, opens a small toolbar just above it when you click in. It offers Bold, Italic, Underline, Bulleted list, Numbered list, Text color, Highlight and Link. Select the words first, then click a button. For Link, enter the full address (for example https://example.com); leave it blank to remove an existing link.

Headlines and short labels are single-style text and do not show the toolbar; their look comes from your site's design settings.

Replace an image

  1. In Edit mode, hover a picture. It shows a dashed outline and a pointer cursor.
  2. Click it. The Select an image dialog opens with your media library.
  3. Pick an image and click Insert. Need a new photo? Use Upload inside the dialog first, or add images in advance as described in Upload images and files.

To take an image out without putting another one in, click it and choose Remove image. The section falls back to its default placeholder in that spot.

Tip: Use a picture whose shape roughly matches the placeholder. A tall portrait dropped into a wide banner slot is cropped to fit, so the framing may not be what you expect. See Image sizes, formats and quality.

Sections that show a set of images, such as galleries, are managed from the section panel rather than one picture at a time:

  1. Hover the section and click Section options (the gear in its top-right corner).
  2. Open the Content tab. The images are listed as tiles.
  3. Click Add image to pick one or more files from your library. Drag the tiles by their handle to change the order, type a short description in each tile's alt-text field, or remove a tile you no longer want.

Icons

Some sections use small icons next to features or services. Click an icon in Edit mode to open Choose an icon and pick a different one.

Other content choices

Settings that are not text or pictures, such as how many columns a grid has, where the text is aligned or which button style is used, live on the Content tab of Section options. What you find there depends on the section type. Layout settings that every section shares, such as spacing, colours and backgrounds, are on the General tab; see Section settings.

Page and section headings

The title banner at the top of a page and the optional heading block inside a section are edited the same way: click the heading or its description on the page and type. Their style (size, alignment, colours) is set once for the whole site in the Design editor; see Page options for how to show or hide them.

Seeing your edits on the live site

Every edit is saved the moment you make it, but the live site shows them only after you click Update live site in the top-right corner of the editor. Read Why your changes do not show on the live site yet for the details.
