You changed a headline in the editor, opened your site in a new tab, and the old text is still there. Nothing is lost: every edit is saved the moment you make it. Your live site, however, is served from a fast copy so it loads quickly for visitors anywhere in the world, and that copy refreshes when you tell it to or, for some changes, on its own. This article explains which is which.
Push your edits live
When a change is waiting, an Update live site button appears in the top-right corner, next to View Live Page - in the page, Design and Navigation editors, and at the top of the Portfolio, Resume, Links, Blog and Cookie Banner screens.
- Finish your edits. You can make as many as you like; the button stays until you click it.
- Click Update live site.
- A message confirms that your changes will be live within a minute. Reload your site after that and the new version is there.
Until you click it, visitors keep seeing the previous version. This is deliberate: you can rework a page across several sittings without half-finished work going public.
Which changes wait for the button
The button covers the surfaces where you shape what visitors see:
- Pages - sections, text, images, section settings and page options, including restoring a version from page history.
- Design - colors, fonts, logo, header, footer and the other design panels.
- Navigation - your site menu.
- Apps - Portfolio projects and categories, Links, Resume and Blog content, and app settings such as the Cookie Banner. The button appears at the top of those app screens too.
Which changes go live on their own
Everything else updates the live site automatically in the background a second or two after you save, with nothing to click:
- Switching apps on or off
- Social profiles, domain changes, plan changes, custom code and site settings
Tip: One click covers everything that is waiting. If you have edited a page and a portfolio project, a single Update live site push makes both live at once, whichever screen you click it from.
The button is not there
Your site is not published. The button and View Live Page only appear for a published site, because there is no live site to update. Switch on Publish site in your site's Settings; publishing refreshes the live copy automatically. See Publish your site.
Your email address is not confirmed yet. Until it is, your site cannot be published, and View Live Page appears greyed out with a hint to that effect. See Verify your email address.
There is nothing pending. The button only shows while changes are waiting. If you do not see it, the live site already matches the editor.
You clicked it and still see the old version
- Wait a full minute, then reload the page in your browser.
- Check you are looking at the right page. A page set to Draft is hidden from visitors no matter how many times you update; flip its status in Page options. See Add and organise pages.
- Check you are looking at the right address. If you connected your own domain, your subdomain redirects to it; both show the same site once the update has gone through.
- A section with Hide section switched on in its settings is intentionally left out of the live site.
Published status and the live site are separate things
It helps to keep three switches apart:

A published site with a draft page, or a published page whose edits were never pushed live, both look like "my change is not showing". Checking these three in order usually finds the reason.
