Verify your email address

Confirm the email address on your account so you can publish your site. Everything else in the dashboard works before you do.

On this page
  1. Find the confirmation email
  2. Your site goes live automatically
  3. Resend the confirmation email
  4. How you can tell you are not confirmed
  5. If the link has expired
  6. Accounts created with Google

When you create an account with an email address, FolioPage asks you to confirm that the address is really yours. Confirming unlocks exactly one thing: putting a site in front of the public. Until then you can build pages, upload images, change the design and set up apps as usual - your site just stays on a "coming soon" page.

Find the confirmation email

Right after you sign up we send a message with the subject Welcome to FolioPage - confirm your email. Open it and click the confirmation button. The link works on any device and in any browser, so it is fine to open it on your phone even if you signed up on a laptop.

  • If you are already logged in, you land in your dashboard with an "Email confirmed" message.
  • If you are not logged in, you land on the login page with the same confirmation. Log in and carry on.

The link is valid for 24 hours and only for the address it was sent to.

Tip: Nothing in your inbox? Check the spam or promotions folder, and make sure you typed the address correctly when signing up. You can see and correct it in your profile (see below).

Your site goes live automatically

If you have one site and it has never been published, confirming your email also publishes it in the same step - no separate toggle to find. The message you land on says "Your site is now live".

If you own several sites, or you published a site before and later took it offline, nothing is published for you. Open Settings in the site's sidebar and switch on Publish site when you are ready. See Publish your site.

Resend the confirmation email

  1. Click your avatar in the dashboard and choose Profile.
  2. Under the Email field you see a warning that the address is not confirmed yet.
  3. Click Resend confirmation email.

You can also reach the same place from the sidebar of an unpublished site, where the status line reads Confirm your email to publish. Click Confirm to open your profile.

If you request several emails in a row, sending pauses for a few minutes.

How you can tell you are not confirmed

  • Your profile shows the warning under Email instead of Email confirmed.
  • The sidebar of an unpublished site shows Confirm your email to publish.
  • The View Live Page control in the editor is greyed out, and hovering it explains why.
  • The Publish site switch in Settings explains that the address needs confirming first.

An old link shows the message "That confirmation link is no longer valid". Log in and use Resend confirmation email in your profile to get a fresh one. Links sent before you changed your email address stop working as well, because a new address needs its own confirmation.

Accounts created with Google

If you signed up with Continue with Google, your address is confirmed by Google already. There is nothing to do, and your first site is published straight away. See Sign in with Google.

Note: Changing the email address on your account clears the confirmation. You receive a new link at the new address and need to confirm it before you can publish again. Sites that are already live stay live.
