Closing your account is permanent and is done by our support team at your request. Because deleting sites is a separate, reversible step with its own recovery window, we ask you to go through it first so nothing disappears by accident.
Tip: A Free account with no sites costs nothing and sends you no billing emails. If you only want to stop paying, deleting the paid site (or cancelling its subscription) is enough. See Cancel a subscription.
Step 1: delete each of your sites
Open every site you own and delete it from Settings under Danger zone. This takes the site offline and cancels its paid subscription immediately, so you are not charged again. See Delete or restore a site.
Deleted sites stay in Recently deleted for 7 days so you can change your mind. Your account cannot be closed while a site is still in that window, because site data is removed by the site deletion process, not by the account deletion. You have two options:
- wait until the recovery window has passed and the sites have been permanently removed, or
- reply to the deletion email for each site and ask us to remove it now, which we do by hand, usually within one working day.
Step 2: ask us to delete the account
Once no sites remain on the account, write to us through the contact page. Include:
- the email address on the account (and send the message from that address, so we can be sure the request is yours);
- a clear statement that you want the account deleted permanently.
If you use Continue with Google and have never set a password, the account's address is your Google address.
Once the account is gone you cannot log in, and we cannot bring it back.
What is deleted
- Your name, email address, password and the link to your Google account, if any.
- Your profile photo.
- Your email notification preferences.
- Any pending password reset links. You are logged out everywhere.
Sites, pages, media and app content are not part of this step: they were already removed when your sites were permanently deleted.
What is kept
- Payment records. Invoices and receipts for past subscriptions stay with our payment provider, as accounting rules require. They are tied to the billing details you entered at checkout, not to your dashboard login.
- A deletion record. We keep a minimal log entry noting that an account with your email address was deleted, so we can answer questions about it later. It contains no other personal data.
Coming back later
You are welcome to sign up again at any time with the same email address or Google account. It is a brand new account: previous sites, templates and settings are not restored.
