Salon - Art portfolio template

About Salon

Salon is a one-page portfolio template for painters, printmakers and illustrators who want the work on the wall before a single sentence. The homepage opens straight on a salon hang: dozens of paintings pulled from inside your portfolio galleries, packed at their natural proportions on a near-black wall, each in a hairline frame on a mat with a small plaque under it reading the picture's caption and year.

Under the wall, every gallery in your portfolio becomes a numbered room - Room I, Room II, Room III - shown as a tall plate with its title, the number of works and the medium. A short about strip follows with a small portrait, a paragraph of sixty words and a row of chips, then a single-line exhibitions list with the year, the venue and the kind of show, and finally a visitors' book: a contact form written on ruled lines with a place for where the visitor is writing from, a direct email address and a note about studio hours.

The design is quiet and dark. Alegreya headings over Alegreya Sans, ivory type on a near-black ground, one dusty rose accent held to links, buttons and room numbers, no rounded corners and no shadows, so the paintings supply the color. The header is a title page with the name centered over the menu, the footer a status bar carrying the navigation and a studio line.

The Portfolio app is on, with nine galleries of ten to thirteen captioned images each in three categories, a masonry index and a showcase detail page with a spec bar of year, medium, size and availability. Resume, links and blog are off.
