About Vida

Vida is a one-page template for a painter, and its whole argument is size. A photograph destroys the one fact a collector needs first, so Vida puts it back: the opening block stands one canvas on a baseline beside a human figure drawn at its real height, with a ticked metre rule up the far edge, and the works below are reproduced at one shared scale taken from their real dimensions. A three-metre canvas dwarfs a forty-centimetre study on the same line, under a drawn one-metre key. The page reads straight down: a signed and dated artist statement, the works at scale, then macro details of the paint surface, each with a five-centimetre bar so a visitor can measure a single brush mark. After that the practical half: how long one painting takes, as a register separating the days worked from the months of waiting; the studio written up as a specification of the room, closing on the largest work that can leave the building; and a picture-free list of what is for sale, with prices, sizes and a hold state. The record follows as an exhibitions and collections CV, a run of prizes, press and talks read down the calendar, and an enquiry block that publishes real open studio days with what will be standing in the room on each.

The look is a gallery lit after hours: a warm charcoal ground, raw canvas bone as the only accent so the paintings supply every colour, Encode Sans over PT Serif, square corners, no shadows, hairline rules and tabular figures. Section headings turn on their side as a spine down the left edge; the masthead carries the medium and the studio address.

The Portfolio app is wired and full: twelve works in four series, each with a second detail image, a caption, and Year, Medium, Size and Availability fields that feed the scale drawing, the captions and the availability dots. Works open on a catalogue index and a dossier detail page. Resume, Links and Blog are off: an exhibitions list is the CV an artist actually publishes.
