About Contrast
Contrast is a one-page portfolio for editorial and publication designers: magazines, books, exhibition catalogs and annual reports, shown page by page rather than as a grid of covers. It is set in black on white with no accent color at all, so the only color on the page comes from the publications themselves.
The homepage opens straight on a flatplan: forty pages pulled from inside your ten most recent publications, paired as spreads with running folio numbers and a row of category chips that filter them in place. Below it, every publication stands on a bookshelf at its true trim size, with a spine as thick as its page count - both read from the Trim and Pages fields you fill in on each portfolio item. An about strip carries a small portrait, a short paragraph, tag chips and a colophon column whose last line is your process; a stockists-style client list, three quotes set at display size and a commission form that opens on a row of trim-size chips close the page.
The Portfolio app is wired throughout: each publication is one item, its cover first and its pages behind it, filed under Magazines, Books, Catalogs and Reports. The index reads as a contents page and every detail page shows the pages as open spreads with folios, so a visitor turns through a publication rather than scrolling a gallery.
Abril Fatface carries the headings, Source Sans Pro the text and PT Mono every folio, chip and label, under a masthead header with a ruled navigation row and an end-matter footer. Swap in your own pages and covers, fill the two fields on each item, and the flatplan, the shelf and the spreads redraw themselves.
