About Leif

Leif is a minimalist portfolio for an illustrator whose work has to carry the page on its own. Everything sits against one narrow left margin column holding nothing but a small label and a section number beside a hairline rule, so the rest of the page is type, whitespace and pictures at full width. Nothing is cropped, nothing is boxed, and there is not a card or a drop shadow anywhere in it.

The homepage opens with the name at poster scale beside a four-line working record, then one uncropped plate. Under it sits the register that gives the template its point: every published title set as a line of type, with the year, the client and what was actually drawn for each one, closing on a summed row of totals. A work grid, a personal block, the commissions list, a client marquee, a pull quote and a closing invitation follow.

Three inner pages carry the rest. Process walks a single piece from thumbnail to delivery, with a rough-to-final slider and the four stages laid out side by side. Studio is a first-person letter with the figures behind it, a sketchbook and a dated list of where to find them next. Commissions holds the enquiry form, the rates, the questions worth settling before a job starts and a current availability note.

The Portfolio app runs the work on two templates of its own: an index that puts each piece's year and category in the margin with the picture uncropped beside them, and a detail page whose margin is a specification register, every image captioned level with its own top edge.

Set in EB Garamond over Commissioner on warm bone paper, with one deep mulberry accent that never competes with the artwork. Built for illustrators, and it suits anyone whose portfolio is a list of published credits.
