Payments for Pro and Max sites are handled by Paddle.com, our Merchant of Record: Paddle runs the checkout, charges your card, calculates any tax and issues your invoices. Invoices, the card on file and your billing address all live in Paddle's billing portal, which you open from your dashboard. Billing is per site, so each site with a subscription has its own billing history.
Open the billing portal
There are two ways in, and both open the portal in a new browser tab:
- Open the site in the dashboard, choose Plan & Usage in the sidebar and click Manage Billing in the top right.
- Click your avatar in the dashboard and choose Billing from the menu.
Both appear only when the site you are currently working on has a subscription now or had one in the past. A site that has always been on Free has nothing to manage, so the buttons are hidden for it.
In the portal you can:
- download or view invoices for past payments;
- update the payment method used for renewals;
- edit the billing details that appear on your invoices.
Note: Invoices are issued by the payment provider, not by FolioPage. The emails FolioPage sends you when a subscription starts, upgrades or is cancelled confirm the plan and renewal date; the amounts charged are on the provider's invoice.
See your renewal date
On the Plan & Usage page, the first card reads You're on Pro (Monthly) or You're on Max (Yearly) followed by the date the subscription renews. Subscriptions renew automatically for the same period until you cancel.
When a payment fails
If a renewal payment does not go through, the card at the top of Plan & Usage changes to Payment failed. followed by a reminder to update your card, with an Update payment method button that opens the billing portal. The provider retries the payment for a while, so updating the card is usually enough to get back on track.
If the payment is still not received after the retries, the subscription ends and the site becomes inactive: visitors see a notice saying the site has expired instead of your pages. FolioPage emails you when this happens. The card on Plan & Usage then reads Your subscription has ended. and you have three ways to resolve it:
- Resubscribe to a paid plan from the plan cards (any plan, monthly or yearly).
- Move to Free plan, which may require trimming the site to Free limits first; see What happens when a site moves to Free.
- Delete the site; see Delete or restore a site.
Your content is kept while the site is inactive, so nothing is lost while you decide.
Charges on your card statement
Because Paddle is the Merchant of Record, the charge on your card or bank statement shows Paddle's name rather than FolioPage, usually as PADDLE.NET* FOLIOPAGE. If you do not recognise a charge, Paddle's payment support can look it up from the card details and the amount, or contact us and we will help.
Billing emails
FolioPage sends you an email when a subscription becomes active or is upgraded, when you cancel, and when a payment has failed and the subscription has ended. These are service emails about your account and cannot be switched off; see Email notifications for the ones you can control.
