On this page
FolioPage has an MCP server, the open standard that lets AI assistants use other apps as tools. Connect it once and you can ask Claude or ChatGPT to look at your site, rewrite a section, add a page, reorder the homepage, or fill in your portfolio, all from the chat. Every page an assistant edits keeps a version you can restore from the page editor.
It is included in every plan, for reading and editing alike.
Step 1: Add FolioPage as a connector
The server URL is shown in your dashboard: click the sparkle icon in the top bar, or open Profile (click your avatar) and scroll to the AI assistants card. It is:
https://foliopage.com/mcp
Claude (claude.ai, the desktop and mobile apps)
- Open Settings, then Connectors.
- Choose Add custom connector, paste the server URL and click Add.
- Click Connect. A FolioPage page opens asking you to allow the connection; log in if needed and click Allow.
On Team and Enterprise plans an owner adds the connector for the organization first, then each person connects their own account.
ChatGPT
- Open Settings, then Apps and connectors, and enable Developer mode under Advanced.
- Choose Create, give the connector a name, paste the server URL and pick OAuth as the authentication.
- Click Create, then Connect, and allow the connection on the FolioPage page that opens.
ChatGPT asks you to approve each change before it runs it; reading never needs approval.
Claude Code
claude mcp add --transport http foliopage https://foliopage.com/mcp
The first tool call opens the browser to allow the connection.
Step 2: Start a chat
Once the connector is on, open a new chat and talk about your site the way you would to a person who has your dashboard open. You do not need a special command: the assistant sees the FolioPage tools and uses them when your request needs them.
A good first message tells it where to look:
- "Look at my FolioPage site and tell me what is on the homepage."
- "Read my site and suggest three things I should improve."
Do you need to name the site? Only if you have more than one. With a single site the assistant finds it on its own. With several, name it once at the start ("work on my site Studio Mira" or "the one at mira.folio.page") and it keeps using that site for the rest of the chat.
Before it changes anything, the assistant reads the page it is about to edit, so you can be brief. It tells you the page address after each change so you can look, and it asks before anything it should not decide alone, such as publishing or replacing the whole menu.
Example prompts
Editing text
- "Rewrite the intro on my homepage so it sounds warmer. Keep it under 60 words."
- "Fix typos on the About page without changing the tone."
- "The services section reads like a brochure. Make it first person and shorter."
Adding and arranging sections
- "Add a pricing section to the services page with my three packages: Starter $450, Standard $900, Full $1,500."
- "Add an FAQ section at the bottom of the homepage with five questions a first-time client would ask."
- "Move the testimonials above the contact section."
- "Remove the stats section from the homepage."
Pages and navigation
- "Create an About page with a short bio, a photo and a list of skills, and add it to the menu."
- "Rename the Work page to Projects and update the menu."
- "Put Contact last in the menu and hide the Blog link for now."
Design
- "Switch to a darker color preset that still fits my logo, and show me the previous one so I can go back."
- "Use Sora for headings and keep Inter for body text."
- "Try a different header style and make it sticky."
Portfolio, links and resume
- "Add a project called Harbor Identity with this description, in the Branding category, using the three newest images in my media library."
- "Feature my newest project and put it first."
- "Add a link to my Instagram at the top of my links page."
- "Add my new job at Northwind, Product Designer since March 2026, to my resume."
Checking and publishing
- "Which pages still use placeholder images?"
- "Is the site published, and are there changes visitors cannot see yet?"
- "Publish the changes."
Going back
- "Undo the last change on the About page."
- "What did you change today?"
Tip: Give the assistant your real content in the same message, for example your prices, the exact bio or the project story. It writes well, but it should not invent clients, prices or credentials for you.
Note: Edits are saved immediately, but the live site keeps serving the cached version until they are published. Ask the assistant to "publish the changes", or click Update live site in the dashboard.
Undo a change
Before every edit an assistant makes to a page, FolioPage records a version of that page. To go back:
- Ask the assistant to undo it ("undo the last change on the about page").
- Or open the page in the editor, click the History button in the frame chrome and pick the version under Assistant changes. Versions restore in one click, and the state you leave is kept too.
Design, navigation and app changes are not page versions. The assistant is given the previous values when it makes those changes and can put them back if you ask.
What an assistant cannot do
- Delete a page or a site, reset a site, or touch domains, billing and account settings.
- Upload files. It can use images already in your media library.
- Publish or unpublish a site without asking you first.
Disconnect an assistant
Open Profile, scroll to AI assistants and click Disconnect next to the assistant. Its access ends immediately; nothing on your site changes. You can also remove the connector on the assistant's side.
Tip: Only connect assistants you trust to act on your behalf. In Claude, avoid "Allow always" for tools that change your site unless you want it to work unsupervised.
