Creating a FolioPage account takes one short form, or one click if you use Google. If you start from a template, your site is built while you sign up, so the first thing you see after creating the account is your own site in the editor.

Before you start

  • Decide whether to start from a template. Open the templates page, click Preview on any card to see the live demo, and click Use this template when you have found one. This takes you to the sign-up page with that template attached. You can also sign up without a template and pick one afterwards.
  • Have an email address you can check. If you sign up by email you will need to open a confirmation link before your site can go live.

Step 1: open the sign-up page

Go to foliopage.com and click Get started free, or click Use this template from the gallery. If you chose a template, the sign-up page shows it at the top of the form under Your site is one step away, with a Choose a different template link in case you change your mind.

Step 2: create the account

You have two options.

With your email address

  1. Fill in Full name, Email address, Password (at least 8 characters) and Confirm password.
  2. Click Create account. If a template is attached the button reads Building your site… for a moment while your site is prepared.

With Google

  1. Click Continue with Google.
  2. Choose your Google account and allow the sign-in.

A Google account has no FolioPage password; you sign in with Google each time. You can set a password later from your Profile if you prefer. See Sign in with Google.

By creating an account you agree to the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy, both linked under the form.

What happens next

  • You land in the dashboard. If you started from a template, you arrive straight in the visual editor with your new site open. The site carries your own name and a free address based on it, for example jane-appleseed.folio.page. You can change the address later from the Domain page.
  • Without a template you see a short Let's set up your first site form: enter a Site name, pick a Subdomain, choose where to Start from (blank or a template) and click Create site.
  • You receive a welcome email. For email sign-ups it contains a confirmation link. Until you open it, your site stays a draft: anyone visiting its address sees a "Coming soon" page. Confirming the address publishes it. Google sign-ups are already confirmed, so their site goes live immediately. Read Verify your email address.

Tip: Did not get the email? Check your spam folder first. You can send it again from Profile in the account menu with the Resend confirmation email button.

Signing in later

Go to foliopage.com and click Log in. Enter your email address and password, or use Continue with Google. If you have forgotten your password, use the Forgot password? link; see Reset a forgotten password.

Already have an account?

"Use this template" only builds a site during a brand-new sign-up. If you are already signed in, clicking it opens your dashboard instead. To add a template to an existing account, either create another site with Add a new website on the My Sites page, or rebuild your current site with Reset a site to a fresh template. Note that a Free account can keep one Free site; a second site needs a paid plan before it can go online.
