About Merit

Merit is a one-page template for a person who repairs things, for the visitor about to hand over something they care about. It opens on a bordered technical plate rather than a photograph: a name, one sentence, and a strip of measured values along the foot - turnaround, tolerance, price from, when the list next opens - so the questions everybody asks are answered before the first scroll.

The page then works down those questions in order. A portrait sits beside three paragraphs with a narrow margin column of hard facts down the outside edge. Recent work shows each job twice, the before and the after butted together in one cell over a hairline record line. An instrument panel draws the readings themselves, two dotted traces whose tilt and spread come from the figures, as it arrived beside as it left. Below that: a priced register of what can be hired with what is included and how long it takes, a process split by whose turn it is at each stage, a shelf of frames bottom-aligned on one continuous line, a ruled availability board, references from clients who came back, an open FAQ, a career register from the Resume app, and a contact slip asking what the object is and what it does wrong.

The design is minimal and dark: a neutral near-black ground, warm bone type, hairline rules instead of boxes, square corners, no shadows and no accent colour at all. One typeface does everything, and every figure is set in tabular numerals so prices and rates line up down the page. The chrome is a title-block header carrying a tagline and a location, a slash-separated menu, and an end-paper footer.

The Portfolio app is wired as a specimen tray of items on identical dark plates, each opening into a condition report. The Resume app carries a complete CV at its own address with an automatic PDF. Links and Blog are off.
