About Pathway

Pathway is a one-page site for a coach whose real credential is other people's finishes. It is built around one idea: the homepage is the wall of the coach's shed, where every photograph of every person who finished something is still taped up. Thirty of them open the page at their own sizes and their own angles, with typed labels under each, and any one of them opens full size.

Under the wall, everything else is a piece of paper. The routes and sessions are filed as ruled index cards with the cover photograph paperclipped to the left edge, the category typed on a tab and the distance, the day and who it is for printed across the foot. The story of the person is written on a punched log sheet with a snapshot clipped to its corner and a register of plain facts along the bottom. The three ways to start are taped up as community-board flyers with tear-off tabs along their perforated edges, two already pulled. The booking form is an index card taped to the wall, and the footer is the card at the foot of the board.

The design is warm and unfussy: a manila paper ground, pencil and ink text, and one marker magenta used the way a coach uses a pen, for the finish time and the thing you should do next. The header is the punched top edge of a training log sheet with a stamp for the week; headings are set in a tall condensed face with typed monospace labels beside them.

The Portfolio app carries the depth. Ten galleries of ten to twelve captioned photographs each hold the weekly runs, the sessions, the races and the shed itself, filed under four categories and built from real route information rather than project fields, so a visitor can look at a Sunday morning before committing to one.

It suits running coaches, personal trainers, group fitness leaders, swim and cycling coaches, walking guides and anyone whose work is photographed rather than written about, and anyone who would rather show a wall of ordinary people than a page of credentials.
